Prologue

In the ancient times, it was said that love descends from the heavens. In the constellation of Aquila, there is a very bright star called Altair. Being the brightest star of all in the Aquila constellation, the proud people of Altair is renowned for their courage and generosity. In the numerous illustrious lives of the Altairians, there was a spark of deviant that was getting weary in the Aquila life style. The immortal spark attracted itself to the simple life on the planet Earth. Little did it know…

The spark fell from the sky and transformed into a Cowherd living a life of humbleness. The spark slowly turned into a half-mortal after an extended long-term exposure and attraction to the mortal life on earth. Days, weeks, and years went by, the Cowherd spent time tending to his cattle in the serene land of China.

On the other starry part of the sky, lies the constellation Lyra. Among them all, there exists a beautiful sapphire star Vega that stands out as the most beautiful star in the harp-like constellation. Fairies from the Vega star frequently visit beautiful planets for their arts. One group of fairies frequent planet Earth particularly for its serene landscape.

One day, as this group of fairies landed in the mountainous regions of Taiwan, some enjoyed their bath in the shallow straits of Taiwan. One fairy wandered off by herself to the shallow banks of China immersing herself into a deeper trance of the breath-taking sceneries.

The Cowherd caught sight of the rare scene and never left his eyes on the beautiful fairy. The Altairian Cowherd was love struck at first sight. He met the most beautiful fairies of them all in the group. The wandering fairy was touched by the relentless courting of the Cowherd and she wandered no more. She announced to the group of fairies that she was going to stay on earth. This fairy that stayed with the Cowherd on earth learned to weave magical silk, and thus was known as the Weaver Girl.

As above, so below. The love fable of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl started not in the courageous star of Altair or in the harping Vega star. Their love blossomed on earth. The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl are getting used to the mortal lifestyle.

All relationships hit the rocks at least once in a lifetime. For the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, that one time is enough to plunge it into the abyss. Their love fable became famous across the entire Milky Way. Immortals are forbidden to fall in love in the heavenly realms, not to mention becoming mortals. The news reached the Heavenly Father. It angered him that 2 immortals have broken the forbidden rule of mortal love.

The news enticed and swayed the heavenly beings with the entrapment of mortal love. The Heavenly Father took away all the immortal skills of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, all except one left. That is, their ageless immortality. The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl were punished by the heavens to be separated by the Taiwan Straits. A block spell is cast on the Straits of Taiwan. The Cowherd can never cross over to the land where Weaver Girl lives, and the Weaver Girl is unable to cross over to the Cowherd land.

Their everlasting love softened the heart of the Divine Mother, the co-ruler of all the realms, above and below. In the ever-changing landscape of the mortals, Divine Mother decided to give a chance to the once-immortal Cowherd and Weaver Girl. On a particular day of love, when all the magpies turned into a magical bridge to let the Cowherd and Weaver Girl meet, Divine Mother appeared on the bridge in front of the mortalised immortal couple.

As the Divine Mother speaks…

Divine Mother

Divine Mother: I am not a muted being, for I have seen your testaments of love over centuries. I will bring forth another chance, a grave task to take up without all your immortal powers up in the stars. Perform well and you shall receive a boon from me.

Divine Mother: In the coming years, a strong force of darkness shall engulf the world. A strong country has been usurped by darkness and darkness shall be unleashed upon the whole planet and on these lands you are standing. All morality ceases as the righteous ones are slained by the great darkness. The light is weak as nations fall, one by one.

Divine Mother: The men of light form a wall against the great darkness of mankind. The light dims away as their lives are taken away by force. Once this wall falls, so shall nations fall.

Divine Mother: This great darkness shall engulf many lands. The extreme frontier of darkness is unleashed by unholy destruction that will destroy much of my creation. This toxic weapon is forged in the depths of hell and kills all forms of life.

Divine Mother: The land of Taiwan on whom the Weaver Girl is living on and the sea beyond it shall be overrun by foul beings usurped by the same darkness.

Divine Mother: You the Cowherd, a former courageous Altairian, are who I am entrusting the task to. The evil force shall disrupt the holy spell on the magpie bridge. I entrust you to break through the dark forces of evil. Failing to do so, the enchanted magpies shall never be able to form a bridge anymore. You the Cowherd and Weaver Girl shall never ever meet again.

Cowherd: !

Weaver Girl: *Shock* !!

Divine Mother: Everywhere you walk, you see me. In the mountains, in the nature, in the animals, in the city areas. I am deeply disturbed by the grave darkness that is about to spread on this planet. Your task is to defend the 2 lands, and the darkness will slowly disperse across the planet. Defender of Cowherd land and Weaver Girl land, I entrust you to defend well and peace shall return to the planet once again.

Divine Mother: Should you succeed in relieving both lands and sea of China and Taiwan from the darkness, I shall grant you the wish of a permanent bridge between the 2 lands on which you two lives. Both of you may cross the bridge whenever you wish. The Cowherd and Weaver Girl may meet whenever thou wish.

Cowherd: !!!

Cowherd: Holy Divine Mother, I do not possess the powers of an Altairian as I once did. How am I supposed to fulfil this task?

Weaver Girl: How can we accomplish such an impossible task without all our immortal powers, Divine Mother?

Divine Mother: I shall send forth a great advisor to aid you in your quest.

Advisor Kong: *Appears*

Cowherd: !!

Weaver Girl: !?!!

Cowherd: The strategist Kong Ming!!

Weaver Girl: Legendary Zhu Ge Liang!?

Advisor Kong: Master, I will assist you in your quest.

Divine Mother: There will be a time when everything seems to be against you. I leave you a visionary pandora. Open it at your darkest hour.

Cowherd: *Receives pandora*

Divine Mother: *Disappears leaving a golden holy silhouette of love and peace*

Thereafter, the quest of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl begins towards a permanent reunion of the pair of star-crossed lovers.
