There are many effects of a planet when its in a sign. A planet can aspects a few signs besides the one that it is in. Eg. When the Sun is in Aries, it opposes the Libra sign as well. Some planets can have more complex aspects than normal. This applies to both natal and transit planets.

Jupiter/Rahu/Ketu Aspects

Jupiter casts a trine aspect. For example on John Lennon Chart, his Natal Jupiter is in 1 Aries. Natal Jupiter will trine 5 Leo, 9 Sagittarius, as well as opposes 7 Libra too. This means Natal Jupiter is not only in Aries 1, but it also has strong impact to 5 Leo, and 9 Sagittarius. It also opposes the 7 Libra sign.

Jupiter has 5^th, 7^th, 9^th aspects. Thus when Jupiter is in Aries, it has impact on Aries, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius signs. When Jupiter is in 2 Taurus, it has impact on 2 Taurus, 6 Virgo, 8 Scorpio, 10 Capricorn. And so on.

Rahu (North Node) and Ketu (South Node) have the same aspects as Jupiter, the trine aspects. Because Rahu and Ketu are the moon nodes and they are literally along the same axis, they also have opposition effects like Jupiter. Refer to Jupiter table for Rahu/Ketu influence.

Lennon Natal Rahu in 6 Virgo aspects 2 Taurus, 10 Capricorn, and opposes 12 Pisces. Lennon Natal Ketu in 12 Pisces aspects 4 Cancer, 8 Scorpio, and opposes 6 Virgo.

The 1^st house, 2^nd house, 3^rd house, 4^th house are all labelled in the picture with the Ascendant always in the top. The houses go anti-clockwise and the position of the houses are fixed. The signs will change for different birth charts.

Lennon is a Pisces Ascendant so there is a 12 labelled in the Ascendant (Asc). His 2^nd house is Aries where Natal Jupiter and Saturn is anti-clockwise from the Ascendant. It is also labelled 2^nd H. on the border. There’s a number 1 in 2^nd house as it represents Aries. 3^rd House (3^rd H.) is number 2 which represents Taurus etc.

This house position will always be the Aries sign for all South Chart. The rest of the signs Aries, Taurus, Gemini, … will always be fixed, but the houses will change for different birth charts.
