Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco“ Chanel was the founder of the fashion design of Chanel brand. She was both a fashion designer and a businesswoman. Chanel had aspirations as a singer on stage popularizing 2 songs with song names that eventually gave her the famous name of Coco. A well-established couturière that extended her influence beyond couture clothings and goes further into jewellery, handbags, and fragrance. Her Chanel No. 5 has become an iconic product.

Chanel has both Jupiter as significator of husband and Venus as significator of relationship in the 8th house of secrets, aspected by malefic Saturn. Malefic Mars is in the 7th house of relationship aspected by troublesome Rahu. In the marriage chart, Jupiter is conjunct Ketu as significator of losses. Venus is aspected by malefic Mars and Saturn is aspecting the 7th house of marriage. However Jupiter and Venus together blesses her area of relationship.

At Moulins, Chanel met Étienne Balsan, a young French ex-cavalry officer who is also a wealthy textile heir. At the age of 23, Chanel became a mistress of Balsan and lived with him in his château Royallieu near Compiègne for 3 years. Balsan had other courtesans as companion at the same time.

In 1906, Chanel began an affair with one of Balsan’s friends, Captain Arthur Edward ‘Boy’ Capel. Capel was a wealthy member of the English Upper class and he installed Chanel in an apartment in Paris. Capel even financed her first shops. The initial design for Chanel No. 5 was attributable to the sensibilities of Capel. Capel never intended to settle down with Chanel and was never faithful to her. He married an English aristocrat but died in a car accident in 1919. Their affair lasted 9 years. Later in Biarritz, Chanel met an expatriate aristocrat, Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich of Russia. They had a romantic interlude which lasted for many years after.

By 1919, Chanel was registered as a couturière/seamstress and established her maison de couture at 31 rue Cambon, Paris owning the entire building. Cambon was situated in one of the most fashionable districts of Paris and by 1927, Chanel owned 5 properties on the rue Chambon within buildings numbered 23 to 31.

Death of Coco Chanel

In 1971 January in Moon/Mars period, Moon is disposited by Saturn into the 6th house of health and Mars is sitting in the 7th maraka house of death. Saturn also rules the 2nd maraka house of death. Transiting Mars was aspecting the 2nd maraka house, debilitated Transiting Saturn with Ketu in the 5th house, as well as Natal Saturn in the 6th house of health. Transiting Saturn was also aspecting the 7th maraka house of death. In addition, Jupiter ruling her chart was transiting in the 12th house of endings conjunct Venus, the most malefic planet for her Sagittarius Ascendant. Transiting Moon was in the 7th maraka house of death.

Chanel was 87 years old. She was preparing the spring catalogue and gone for a long drive on January. She fell ill soon after and died on January 10, 1971 in Hotel Ritz where she resided for more than 30 years.

Coco Chanel Humble Beginnings

Coco Chanel’s childhood was a humble one. She was the daughter of a peasant and a street vendor, and she was born in a poor house. She lived in an orphanage in Corrèze, Central France after her mother died where she stayed until 18 years old. It is in the convent in Aubazine that she first learned to sew. Life doesn’t stay still for many of the humble ones. It is the little skills that you pick up in the humble times that will produce miracles in the future.
